Should I vote just for SPITE?

voting is a great right but i feel like sometimes it doesnt matter.. if every vote counted, all gore would have won in 2000 and hillary would have beaten obama this year. they both had more votes than their opponents but lost because of the electorial college which mostly states that if you get the most votes in certain states, then you win.. not the most votes in america. thats why candidates spend a lot of time in certain states and not so much in others because some votes are more important than others. is that american or bullshit? I vote the latter but just like the electorial college intended, i'm from alabama so my vote doesnt matter
