Why did my lawn tractor just die on me?

The key was in forward mode and I accidentally reversed (not sure what the moron who invented this double feature was thinking) and the engine died down and now it won't start up. Help me. Please. How do I resurrect this piece of garbage lawn tractor mower? Thank you.
