Is it fair that so many recent candidates win the popular vote but then lose the delegate vote?

It is not fair, and as Americans it is up to us to question the validity of this policy. I feel that it was originally designed with an elitist agenda in mind. It was meant to prevent to uneducated mes from voting for someone who was not really qualified for the job. However, it does serve to do things like not elect a dead president. There have historically been president elects that died before entering office and the electoral college was the stopgap to keep a deceased president from actually being voted into office. It was also designed to prevent densely populated areas of the country from being the sole force that decides the outcome of elections. However, the system is dated and now we are seeing what can happen when the wrong people manipulate the system.
