Cave men question.?

My reilgion teacher was talking about how cavemen drew on the caves to attempt magic, to try control what they were drawing. For example hunting. To me this this sounds really stupid. Wouldnt it be more likely that the drawings represented plans. For example once again plan for a hunt that they were going to go on?
