How long until I can drive my car after a windshield replacement?

When i had the widshield replaced on my GMC Topkick, they didn't advise not using it for any space of time, and I went on to use the truck right after the installation with no ill effects. I could be just real lucky though, so call the gl company's 24 hour emergency number and ask them.
